Food crisis: Presidency shows off Wheat farm in Jigawa State
The Presidency has released photos of a wheat farm about to be harvested in Jigawa State, barely four months after launch of dry season farming in November last year.
In an X post, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President, Bayo Onanuga says “Wheat production programme being implemented in Jigawa state, courtesy of the huge subsidy to farmers by the Tinubu administration. This is the first time since 36 years, that wheat production is being ramped up in the state and the country”.
It will be recalled that Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari launched the dry season farming of Wheat to cultivate 100,000 hectares of land.
The programmme which was targeted at some states in northern Nigeria was also to assist 250,000 farmers with subsidies.
